For Healthcare Professionals
When a patient needs a neurosurgical consultation, you want them to have the best care possible. Dr. Tom Wascher is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with over 23 years of experience handling complex conditions involving the brain and spinal cord. These have included brain tumors, vascular brain disorders and disorders involving the base of the skull. Having performed more than 1,800 cervical fusions and 500 surgical procedures for brain tumors, he has the clinical experience and expertise to handle even the most complex surgical cases.
Dr. Wascher’s clinical results speak for themselves. His complication rate from cervical fusions is less than 1%, well below the national average. His surgical management of gliomas has given his patients a survival time 2 to 4.6 times greater than the national average, depending upon the grade of the tumor. He also has extensive experience with stereotactic radiosurgery and has helped introduce this procedure to central Wisconsin.
Dr. Wascher is a published author and has received numerous awards for both his academic excellence and his service to the community. He has repeatedly been recognized in the Guide to America’s Top Surgeons and Best Doctors in America.
Dr. Wascher takes the time to explore with patients all potential treatment options, both surgical and nonsurgical. He thoroughly educates his patients about their conditions and potential treatment options. In consultation with each patient, he develops a treatment plan. If surgery is the best option, he discusses the potential benefits and risks while taking the time to answer any concerns. No question goes unanswered. With the patient’s permission, he also involves the family in every step of the treatment process.
Dr. Wascher would be happy to consult with you regarding your patient or to discuss a challenging case with you. He schedules new referrals as quickly as possible (same or next day in the most serious cases) and will keep you informed of the patient’s progress every step of the way. His goal is to be your partner in the treatment process and to provide your patient with the best clinical outcome possible.
